Disgraced celebrity doctor, Nandipha Magudumana, will have to explain how she successfully claimed Katlego Bereng’s body — the man whose body was used as a decoy in rapist and murderer Thabo Bester’s prison escape on 3 May 2022.

DR NANDIPHA’S FINGERPRINTS PLAYED ROLE IN IDENTIFYING CHARRED BODY

According to News24, Magudumana tried to smudge her fingerprints when she claimed Bereng’s body from a Bloemfontein hospital.

However, despite her attempts not to have her fingerprints identified, authorities still managed to confirm her identity. Her smudged fingerprints played a crucial role in the State identifying the body of the 32-year-old father.

The late Bereng’s fingerprints were also captured on the form that Magudumana used to claim his body.

The publication further reports that records of Magudumana’s successful efforts to claim Bereng’s body, just days before the escape, will be used by the State to argue that he was murdered to enable the Facebook rapist to fake his death.

BERENG’S FAMILY LAY CHARGES

Ground Up reported on Wednesday that ActionSA Free State chairperson Patricia Kopane confirmed on Tuesday that criminal charges have been laid in relation to the death of Bereng. Bereng’s father, Batho Mpholo — a member of ActionSA — laid against the Free State Department of Health.

In addition, Mpholo plans to take legal action against the Department of Correctional Services and G4S — the multinational company that was in charge of the prison.

Kopane said the police told them that Bereng was found unconscious and picked up by an ambulance. He died in the ambulance before reaching National Hospital in Bloemfontein as his blood pressure was low. His body was then taken to the Free State morgue.

As a result, his family is demanding to see the medical report from the paramedics who drove him to the hospital, as well as his death certificate. The family also wants police to investigate how Bereng’s body was released to Magudumana when she was not his spouse.
