Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ show cancelled

Facebook Original talk show Red Table Talk, hosted by American actress Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris has been cancelled as Meta shuts down all Facebook Watch Original programming.

JADA PINKETT SMITH’S ‘RED TABLE TALK’ CANCELLED

Variety reports that Facebook watch series Red Table Talk — hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris has been cancelled. Red Table Talk is a talk show series which premiered on Facebook on 7 May 2018.

One of the most popular episodes is when Jada brought her husband, actor Will Smith out to chat about her “entanglement” with singer August Alsina.

There was been five seasons of the hit series. Variety reports that the series has been cancelled amid broad cost-cutting moves as Meta shuts down the Facebook Watch Originals group. Red Table Talk was one of the few series in the small slate of shows.

The show’s production company Westbrook Studios, which is founded by Jada and Will is reportedly looking for a new distributor for the series.

DID JADA ADDRESS THE OSCARS SLAP?

In season five Jada discretely addressed Will’s controversial Oscars slap. Will walked up on stage and slapped actor Chris Rock during the Oscars on Sunday 27 March 2022. This was after Rock made a joke about Jada.

“Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” said Rock as Will first laughed but then turned sour. 

Jada on the other hand appeared to look furious.. Will walked up on stage and slapped Rock and said “Keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth,” to Rock. 

“Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s–t out of me” before defending what was “just a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke,” he continued.

American singer Janelle Monae was the guest on the first episode of season five. The first episode opened with a message that addressed the controversial slap.

“Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focused on deep healing,” a t**le card stated at the beginning of the episode.
