L’vovo remembers Mampintsha six months after his passing

Kwaito star L’vovo has shared how much he misses his late friend Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo in an Instagram post.

The Resista hitmaker, whose real name is Thokozani Ndlovu, posted a video of the late star with the caption; “I miss you Mfowami.”

Mampintsha died on 24 December last year after suffering a minor stroke. However, L’vovo could not bid him farewell at his funeral which was held at the Durban International Convention Centre on 30 December because he was in hospital. L’vovo had also suffered a stroke in the same week.

Speaking to TshisaLive in January, he said: “He was a was a true friend and brother. I miss him every day. I will still go and visit him.

“I will be dropping more music to celebrate a friend of mine … We are here and we are not going anywhere,” he said.

PULLING OUT OF COTTON FEST

This week, L’vovo announced that he is no longer going to perform at the Durban edition of late Riky Rick’s much-loved music and lifestyle concert, Cotton Fest, which is scheduled for 2 July at the Kings Park Stadium outer fields.

The Bayang’sukela hitmaker shared a statement on his Instagram account, released through his record label Yebophela Entertainment, saying he has had a difficult couple of months since suffering a stroke and also being in a car accident earlier in the same year.

As a result of his health taking a knock, his doctor advised him to take it easy until September.

“The past few months have been one of the toughest periods in my life … I’ve literally had to watch my life flash before me. Through it all, I’ve received unwavering support from my fans, family and friends. I’ve been in constant engagement with my doctor these past few days about my condition.

“I’m sorry to announce that after lengthy discussions, we have taken a decision not to perform at the Cotton Fest this weekend. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused, and I hope to partake in the festival in the future when I have fully recovered.”
