Lynn Forbes defends her relationship with DJ Zinhle

Lynn Forbes, mother of late SA rapper, AKA defended her relationship with DJ Zinhle — the mother of his daughter Kairo Forbes in an interview with eNCA.

Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA was shot dead outside of Wish restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February, along with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

AKA’s mom Lynn Forbes sat down with eNCA journalist for an exclusive interview following the passing of her son, slain rapper AKA. Lynn chatted about her relationship with her son’s girlfriend Nadia Nakai along with DJ Zinhle — the mother of AKA’s daughter Kairo Forbes.

She explained that she struggled with understanding the criticism surrounding her relationship with the Umlilo hitmaker. Twitter users have slammed DJ Zinhle over her co-parenting relationship with AKA — claiming she still loves him. Along with her relationship with the Forbes.

Most recently, Tweeps claimed they have never seen her take photos with her “husband” Murdah Bongz’ family. This was after photos of her with Nadia, Lynn, and AKA’s father Tony Forbes went viral.

In her interview with eNCA, Lynn explained that it is all about Kairo. She then spoken off a time when Kairo told her teacher she loves how much of love there is in her family.

“Kairo… a school teacher actually phoned me and she said to me. Their theme was on family and every child had to say what they love most about my family. And her answer was ‘what I love most about my family is that we all love each other’,” she said.

“It is the the most powerful thing ever. So I am sorry, we are just going to keep on loving each other and whoever can’t deal with it. You know it’s their problem,” she continued.

Lynn also revealed that she has an amazing relationship with the late rapper’s girlfriend, rapper Nadia Nakai. She explained that the way she loved AKA is special to her.

“In this family… there is space for everybody, you just need to find your spot. And you need to shine in your spot in this family but you know it’s there. My relationship with Nadia is literally based on that. The way Nadia treated Kiernan… it was the way she loved him and the way he loved her. She loved him because she loved her,” said Lynn.

Lynn also praised AKA’s “baby mama” DJ Zinhle and her “husband” Murdah Bongz. DJ Zinhle and AKA welcomed daughter Kairo Forbes in 2015. The Umlilio hitmaker welcomed her second daughter Asante Mohosana with Murdah Bongz in 2021.
